There are many rewarding jobs or careers in the insurance industry that pay well; not to mention they usually provide their employees with great benefits.  Because some insurance jobs require no more than a high school diploma, it is easier for an individual to work in this industry.  Some careers in this field will require additional schooling or specialized training; however, more often than not the training needed will be offered through the job.  Opportunities for advancement are good in the industry especially for those starting out in the business administrative field.

All insurance sales agents are required to obtain licenses in the states that they wish to sell insurance for.  Most states require that you complete a specified course and pass the written examinations which include state laws and the fundamentals on insurance.  Some companies will offer the courses at the agency for the employees they hire where as others are expected to study on their own.

Most independent contractors are paid based off of commission; however, if you work as an employee for an agency you will most likely be paid a base pay along with commission.  Agencies will usually pay for all expenses including mileage and convention fees.
